Summer Night of Champions, Aug. 16th, 2008

The Alternative Wrestling Show will be promoting a big night of wrestling Saturday August 16th at 8:30pm. “A Summer Night of Champions” will be featuring the NWA Worlds Tag Team Champions, the NWA Heritage Champion, an AWS Tag Team Title match and Headline by the AWS Heavyweight Champion versus the AWS Lightweight Champion.

Scorpio Sky will be defending his AWS title against Scott Lost. Lost is also the current AWS Lightweight Champion. These men have been partners and enemies all over Southern California and now will battle as AWS finest, and for supremacy.

The premier tag team titles in the NWA will also be defended. Los Luchas will make a title defense against a new pairing of former Australian National Champion, Mikey Nicholls, and 1/2 of the former Worlds Tag Team Champions, Joey Ryan. Ryan has been wrestling all over the SoCal circuit receiving many title matches, but coming up short. Seemingly Nicholls receiving more bookings through out the state was last seen obliterating form EWF Heavyweight Champion Brandon Gatson. The Self-Proclaimed Super-Hero and the Sleazy American Hero will battle Phoenix Star and Zokre.

Former AWS Heavyweight Champion, Lil Cholo, will be looking to make his mark in the NWA Pro by taking on T.J. Perkins. The Heritage Championship is one of the most prestigious titles in the NWA since its inception a little over 2 years ago in an AWS ring. The title makes it return to AWS as Perkins battle Cholo.

Other matches announced are the AWS Tag Team Champions putting their belts on the line as, the Ballard Brothers take on the Cutler Brothers, Los Chivos and Shamu Jr. fight Piloto Suicida, Acero Dorado and TBA, and in a weird turn of events 2 referees battle each other as Ric Knoxx will wrestle a match against former wrestler and fellow referee, Johnny Paradise. All this plus; Angel, Sexy Sonny Samson, The Plague, Liger Rivera, Ryan Taylor, and Sexy Chino.

All this goes on Aug. 16th, 2008 @ 8:30pm. Live from the Alternative Wrestling Shop in Rowland Heights, CA.

Machine Gun to Japan

The United States are sending arms to Japan and Oliver North has nothing to do with it. Karl ‘The Machine Gun’ Anderson is heading to Japan to make his debut for New Japan Pro Wrestling. New Japan recently re-joined the NWA after a brief departure of the Alliance last year.

From Machine Gun’s Blog:

So yea, I changed my little status update on my page saying that I was goin to the FAR EAST soon…. And I have gotten a lot of emails asking the meaning of that…. So here it is: I have an announcement about my career but I want the people to figure it out on their own…. If you are a wrestling fan, it wont take you long. Read the internet and search around and you will find me…. My family members and close friends know where I am heading…. SO, that is that. Man, I can’t wait to see my friends Shinsuke Nakamura and Prince Devitt soon…. Much love to everybody…. March 6, the journey begins…. Until then my Myspace friends…. Holla

Karl Anderson spent his early tenure with the NWA Pro training at the former Inoki L.A. Dojo with the likes of Fergal ‘Prince’ Devitt and current Undisputed IWGP Heavyweight Champion, Shinsuke Nakamura. Anderson had a banner year in 2007 winning the NWA Midwest Heartland States Championship and later winning the NWA Pro/EWF American Heavyweight Championship. Holding both titles simutaneously, before winning the NWA World Tag Team Championships with Joey ‘Magnum’ Ryan. Our loss is definitely New Japan’s gain. I wish Karl all the luck in the world.

You can read the interview I did with Karl Anderson.

NWA Anarchy

I’ll admit that I’ve been very critical of NWA Anarchy in the past. As some of my friends can attest, I questioned Anarchy’s role in actually promoting the NWA. However, I’m happy to announce that as reported by the NWA Anarchy Webmaster, a World Tag Team Title match has been announced. On Saturday March 1st, Anarchy will welcome the newly crowned Champions, Los Luchas to their Television Arena. Zokre and Phoenix Star will be putting the gold on the line against ‘The Messiah of the Spinebuster’ David Young and Adam Jacobs. David Young has won the tag team titles 3 times with Rick Michael as Bad Attitude. Adam Jacobs has won the NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Title on numerous occasions.

The rest of the NWA Anarchy TV Tapings should include newly signed TNA wrestler Austin Creed vs. Anarchy Heavyweight Champion Shatter. Truitt Fields defends his Television title against 1/2 of the Anarchy Tag Champions Shaun Tempers. The card is stacked. And this brings NWA Anarchy back into the fold of things. It seemed that NWA Anarchy was a separate entity. Now if maybe Anarchy was able to start booking other well known NWA Wrestlers to the NWA Arena. Perhaps Truitt Fields versus Chance Prophet. Maybe the Old School Empire versus the Devil’s Rejects. Maybe North American Champion Mike DiBiase could battle Shatter.
