More Talent for the NWA Showcase announced.

Since learning of Sid’s pending debut for the NWA Showcase on April 19th. Wildwood NJ, a lot of other names have been thrown around for the Showcase.

Obviously Sid is going to be a huge fan favorite. But also there has been talks of some of the stars of the IWA Puerto Rico such as Hiram Túa and Carlitos, with possible appearances later from the Naturals and Ricky Vega.
But what excites a lot of the NWA Faithful the most are some of the guys that are excited to see some familiar names to be seen on the Showcase. Earlier NWA
fans were delighted to see Dru Onyx and Damien Wayne battle it out on National Television. But as I just caught on Chance Prophet’s Myspace Page, the former National Champion is set to debut for the Showcase.

IWA Puerto Rico: Savoldi gives his side of the IWA Controversy

Credit to Lucha Libre Online
A rough translation from AltaVista – Babel Fish

With revealers and until surprise declarations, Mario Savoldi offers its version to us of the controversy that has been provoked in the high hierarchy of Internacional Wrestling Association (IWA) during the last weeks. Savoldi denies all the accusations that as much Savio Vega as Miguel Perez have made on their person. Mario accuses so much to Perez as to Mr. Juan Creek (Savio Vega) to commit fraud when taking control of a company (including its materials) that belongs to him. Our interviewed person declares forcefully that the person with the rights of property and equipment is he, according to the agreement that allowed its arrival to the company. Still more, Savoldi expresses that at the moment such thing does not exist as Internacional Wrestling Association (IWA). The IWA let have use when Mario arrives at Puerto Rico and begins to produce free fight under the name of Internacional Wrestling Entertainment (IWE). According to him, the talent and equipment that at the moment Savio and Miguel use belong to him to the IWE. When not existing such thing as the IWA, the billboards and programs (with IWE material, according to Savoldi) they are illegal and they lack the necessary permissions. This alleged illegality is one of the reasons that take to Savoldi to express their intention to take legal action against “the authentic” calls from the IWA. The interview also speaks of the roll that the past played Savoldi in the controversy with the Universal title of WWC in month of January. Finally, Mario mentions the names of the Puerto Rican superstars of IWE that continue working with him. Savoldi mentions names like Ray González, Hiram Túa, Carlitos and Ricky Vega, like the fighters whom it has in mind to present/display them in the United States and Mexico.

My limited understanding of the situation and from the interview I listened to from Lucha Libre Online, it sounds like IWA Puerto Rico is having some real troubles and it looks like there is a lot more going on then what most “news” sites are reporting. Savoldi says he has written agreements, contracts, and recordings stating his case, which has mostly been ignored by other “news” sites. Either way I hope the issues can be resolved and resolved quickly. On a positive note, the good news is that Savoldi is going to bring his talents; Naturals, Hiram Túa, Carlitos, and Ricky Vega to the NWA Wrestling Showcase. As soon as the next tapings.

Chris Escobar Seeks California Gold!: ‘Pure Talent’ Run Out of Virginia Debuts on NWA Showcase

By Rick O’Brien

(San Bernardino, CA) ‘Pure Talent’ Chris Escobar hadn’t been seen in several weeks. He lost a match against nemesis, Grail at the NWA’s Gold & Glory show in Saluda, Virginia. Unbeknownst to Escobar, Kameo, the sexy vixen that rules NWA Underground, signed the match to be a ‘Loser Leave Virginia’ match. And then she didn’t show up for the match.
Gold & Glory was turning out to be a good night for Escobar and the rest of NWA Underground. Sure, Kameo was missing in action, allegedly home sick with the flu, but Janus won a battle royal and an opportunity to face Damien Wayne at a later show in King and Queen County Elementary School. Sure, his partner Rex Sterling was missing the show due to a skin rash, but Escobar was about to face Grail for the NWA Alpha Championship. Escobar had defeated Grail numerous times in the past, including on the NWA Action Zone. Escobar was confident.
“Janus is going to win his match, and I’m going to win mine,” said the cocky Escobar. Unfortunately, the night didn’t turn out that way.
He had secured the services of Timmy Danger to take the place of Kameo. But a series of gaffes between the two allowed Grail to successfully defend the NWA Alpha Championship. It was then that Escobar found out about the ‘Loser Leave Virginia’ stipulation. The matches will air on Episode 11 of NWA World Wide Wrestling [found at http://www.NWAWorldWideWrestling.net and http://www.TheSuperstation.TV ].
‘Pure Talent’ Chris Escobar was a wrestler without a home. He went into seclusion and re-evaluated his life, his career, and his priorities. He realized that if he wanted to wrestle, he would have to leave the Mid Atlantic. But where to go? No one knew where Escobar had gone.
That is, until the latest episode the NWA Showcase [available at http://www.NWAWrestling.com]. “Pure Talent” Chris Escobar debuted in a winning effort against Dan Kobrick. He expressed his thoughts following his debut win.
“I needed a change. I needed a change of pace, a change of scenary. I also needed an attitude change. [NWA Virginia Promoter Rick] OBrien tried to show me, he tried to tell me. I was mean and cold to the fans but after I lost the match against Grail, well….man…some of the fans were crying because I was leaving,” said a completely different Escobar. Gone was the swagger and overconfidence. “When a fan named Victoria came up to me and hugged me, she was crying. Man, that had some effect on me. The fans actually cared about me. Don’t get me wrong, Victoria wasn’t the only fan either. Fathers with sons came up and shook my hand, thanking me for the memories.
“I had an older lady come up to me and say that she was there when I won the first Magnum TA Memorial Cup and for this year’s final where I lost to Damien Wayne. Whenever she saw my name on a poster or on the internet, she came to the show to see me. I need to respect that, and the fans who pay the money that pays my salary/ It really opened my eyes,” concluded the exciting youngster.
When he was asked what goals he had coming to the NWA in California and to NWA Showcase, his reply was simple, “I’ve come for Championship gold. As a former North American Tag Team Champion, I want singles gold. Whether it is [North American Champion] Dibiase, or [World Champion] Pearce, I know that all I need is an opportunity, and that’s all I’m asking for.”
Check out ‘Pure Talent’ Chris Escobar in action on two shows. His debut on NWA Showcase can be found at NWAWrestling.com and on the NWA World Wide Wrestling which can be found at TheSuperstation

NWA Showcase: It’s finally here!!!

Its so close I can taste it. I know there has been a ton of blood, sweat, and tears poured into this project by David Marquez and company to make this a reality. I am so excited to see this project come to light. And the talent announced so far is nothing short of jaw dropping. The short list is… Nicho el Millonario (Psicosis), “El Exotico” Cassandro, “Ironman” Rob Conway, NWA World Champion: “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce, NWA World Tag Champs: The Real American Heroes, NWA Womens Champion: Amazing Kong, NWA National Champion: Pepper Parks, Los Luchas, The Young Bucks, TJ Perkins, Al Katrazz, plus more to be announced…

The first set of talent is as follows for the 1st set of Las Vegas Colours TV tapings at the Plaza Hotel and Casino on January 18. I know the first few shows, on CoLours, will feature some previously taped matches, kind of as an (re)introduction to the NWA. Again the show will be made available on CoLours, channel 9407 on Dish Network (no air date has been released yet) and on-line by streaming via CoLours TV Website.
