NWA New Beginnings is set to launch in 17 Days!!!

17 Days and counting until Greg Price’s NWA New Beginnings launches its inaugural event and what a jam packed event it will be.  First and foremost our Worlds Heavyweight Champion is scheduled to defend his title against a yet to be named opponent.  The Worlds Champion has defended the title all over the American Southwest, but this will mark the first time Demon will wrestle a sanctioned NWA World Championship match on the East Coast.  And there will be another first meeting.
The much anticipated match up between “The Universal Solider” Phil Shatter defending his National Heavyweight Championship against former NWA World Champion “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce.  Shatter has met many world class competitor in his year long reign, including Larry Zbyszko, Mikal Judas, Tristan Gallo, Ace Rockwell, Orion Bishop, Caprice Coleman, and Truitt Fields.  Shatter has defended that belt in Hollywood CA, McKeepsport PA, Cornelia GA, and Charlotte NC.
But Shatter has never faced a competitor in the likes of Adam Pearce.  Pearce is a 2 time World Champion. “Scrap Iron” is still collecting championships.  Pearce recently defeated Dru Onyx to win the NWA British Commonwealth Championship.
Both of these men plan on using this National Championship match to springboard them to the next level.  To put them into a World Championship Match, with Blue Demon Jr.  Only one of these men will walk away as the National Heavyweight Champion.  Only one of these men will walk away with the attention of Blue Demon Jr.  February 14th, Shatter vs. Pearce, the entire NWA will be watching this match.  The entire landscape is about to change as we all await to see the New Beginnings of the NWA..

NWA World champion Blue Demon Jr!]NWA World Champ Blue Demon Jr. Coming Sunday, February 14; Plus, Shatter To Defend National Championship Against Pearce!

We’re extremely happy to announce that Mexican luchador Blue Demon Jr., the current NWA World champion, has just signed on for the February 14 kickoff of NWA: New Beginnings! in Charlotte.

The son of Blue Demon (an icon in Mexican wrestling and culture,) making his first-ever appearance in North Carolina, will defend his championship belt against a yet-to-be-named opponent.

Click here for some background information on Blue Demon, Jr., the first Mexican and first masked luchador to hold the NWA World championship.

We’re also happy to announce the Valentine’s Day challenger for Phill Shatter’s NWA National title belt.

“Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce, himself a former NWA World champion and current booker for Ring of Honor, has signed on as challenger for Shatter’s National championship, but one has to wonder if his sights aren’t still set on Blue Demon, Jr. as well.

Pearce is still protesting his October 25, 2008 title loss in Mexico City, when he passed out from Blue Demon Jr.’s Single-leg Boston crab. The video of the match, which you can see in the right column below, clearly shows Pearce’s right arm was under the bottom rope, yet the referee’s decision to stop the match was allowed to stand.

NWA: New Beginnings! is happy to add to the mix these two world-class athletes — and two championship matches — to our huge lineup Sunday afternoon, February 14!

Alliance Editorial: What’s going on in North Carolina?

With in a matter of months Charlotte, North Carolina has become a hot topic in the world of professional wrestling when it comes to the National Wrestling Alliance.   For years Charlotte was known as the home of the 4 Horsemen or Flair Country, but in more recent times has become the physical office of the NWA by way of Bob Trobich, the executive director.  In what once was a hotbed for Jim Crocket Promotions and Mid-Atlantic Wrestling before that made Charlotte a regular stop for the mighty NWA.  And the fans rejoiced with it was announced in 2008 that JD Costello and Jay Joyce would bring live wrestling back to Charlotte.  And after half a dozen shows, a bunch of broken promises, and wrestlers complaining of non-payment NWA Charlotte collapsed on top of itself.
After months of no NWA action, Greg Price had come to terms with the NWA to launch his new efforts in conjunction with his Legends Festivals, NWA New Beginnings, which announced a monthly show starting on Valentine’s day.  Shortly after Price’s announcement, Costello start popping off about a return for NWA Charlotte, which would mean that the NWA would have two promotions in Charlotte along with three more promotions promoting the NWA in North Carolina: NWA Carolinas, NWA Mid-Atlantic, and NWA Fusion affiliate: NWA Warzone, for a total of five separate NWA promotions in North Carolina.
The biggest announcement from Costello’s group came December 25th when he announced via the NWA Charlotte website (the cached version of NWA Charlotte), said that the first event  of the New Year is scheduled for January 23, 2010 at Metrolina Expo Center, Charlotte.  The site also  announced that Costello  and Joyce were joining a  NWA Superpower with Bill Behrens, Bob Trobich and Slim Baucom.  However  this was all smoke and mirrors, Behrens had mentioned that his words were taken out of context and now the NWA Charlotte site redirects to CWA, a non NWA wrestling promotion.
So what is going on in the NWA, in regards to Charlotte?  Is there a NWA Superpower or is this much ado about nothing?  It is becoming more apparent that NWA Charlotte is even more dead in December of 2009 as it was in July of 2009.  But the good news is the NWA isn’t dead in Charlotte.  From all reports I’ve seen, this deal with Trobich, Behrens, and Baucom is real.  Apparently Trobich will be promoting the events while Behrens will be booking the events.  This will make Bill quite the busy guy, producing for both NWA Anarchy and NWA Main Event.  And if we can believe any of the quotes from NWA Charlotte’s page, Bob Trobich is interested in producing a National Television program right from Charlotte, complete with National Titles being represented on its shows.
NWA New Beginnings will also be producing live events and plan to have the NWA National Champion on their monthly offerings.  There is also talk with Worlds Heavyweight Champion Blue Demon Jr. debuting in Charlotte. And with New Beginnings already announcing talents like Phil Shatter, Chase Stevens, Caprice Coleman, Mr. Mid-Alantic Damien Wayne, Zack Salvation, the “Man Scout” Jake Manning, Caleb Konley, Josh Magnum, and Brad Attitude, NWA New Beginnings will bring the goods.

All the Super Power talk is a much ado about nothing.  Neither promotion has ran a single card yet so any number of things can happen.  The cynic in me knows that wrestling promoters often make huge grandiose promises and rarely deliver.  NWA New Beginnings should benefit for the good will that Greg Price has earned through out the years promoting the NWA Legend Fan Fest.  If the announced roster remains the same when New Beginnings opens its doors, the fans in Charlotte should certainly be there.  NB will be fine.  I’m not entirely convinced that Trobich will be as successful.  Obviously adding Bill Behrens to the mix lends a lot of credibility.  I’m not sure what role, if any Slim Baucom will have.  I would be surprised to see this fledgling promotion instantly get television and be successful.  I do hope the new project will take off and wish the best of luck to this new group and New Beginnings.

NWA New Beginnings announces talent

Live Wrestling Action Returns To The Queen City In The Spring,
“New Beginnings!” Series To Showcase Top Young NWA Talent!
Something old, something new, something different. Wrestling simplified. That’s what you’ll experience when the very best young talent the National Wrestling Alliance has to offer converge on the Carolinas for NWA: New Beginnings! — a series of four, monthly Sunday afternoon events that get started on Sunday afternoon, February 14, 2010.
Dedicated to providing a fun, family-friendly atmosphere, and a return to the values that for generations made the Mid-Atlantic area the “hotbed” of pro wrestling, each of the monthly cards — February through May — will take place at the beautiful Hilton University Place hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina, also home to the yearly NWA Wrestling Legends Fanfest Weekends each August!
For too long, area fans have been denied an opportunity to see quality wrestling action, free of the filth and profanity that you see nowadays on television. But that will change — in a BIG WAY — in 2010!
Each month, you’ll see the champions and top young talent of the NWA, the oldest and most respected sanctioning body in wrestling. One of those already signed is the 27-year-old reigning NWA National Champion, Phil Shatter. A former Marine, Shatter grew up in Hickory, NC and is a graduate of Saint Stephens High School there. He’ll be defending his championship belt on Valentine’s Day in Charlotte against a soon-to-be-named opponent.
29-year-old Chase Stevens, one-half of “The Naturals,” is another incredibly talented young wrestler that has also signed on with NWA: New Beginnings! One-half of the NWA World Tag Team champions three times previously, Stevens looks forward to establishing himself as a singles competitor here in Charlotte.
Another of the top young talents headed this way is Caprice Coleman, who is not only an accomplished athlete but also an ordained minister. “I love the Lord and I love people,” said the Southern Pines native. “I know that many people have been turned off by ‘Christian hypocrites.’ I have made a vow to live a life in front of people, that will provoke them to give Him another chance.” Coleman brings a great, positive outlook to NWA: New Beginnings!
Many more gifted young athletes will showcase their skills here. Included are the “Queen City Killer” Zack Salvation, the “Man Scout” Jake Manning, Caleb Konley, Josh Magnum, Damien Wayne, and Brad Attitude. More competitors, and specific matches for the Valentine’s Day event, will be announced here in the coming weeks!
It’s an exciting time. Please help us by telling your friends, telling your neighbors — especially those that have been turned-off by TV wrestling for so many years.
Hope you can be with us each month in Charlotte to share in the fun of being a wrestling fan again!
Should you have any questions or comments to share, please feel free to email us at NWANewBeginnings@aol.com
The Folks of Charlotte just got a teriffic Christmas present.  It looks like Greg Price is serious about bringing in some of the good, young, talent from the Mid-Atlantic.  Former NWA North American Champion Wayne, Konley, Manning, former NWA World Tag Team Champion Stevens and NWA National Champion Phil Shatter is a great core roster to build around.  The decision not to saddle Shatter with a tag team partner or stable is a great move.  Shatter has an awesome ring presence and shouldn’t be wasted sharing the lime light with anyone.  With any luck, Shatter will get the spotlight in New Beginnings.  Who do you think should be the focus of NWA New Beginnings?  Do you like the roster announcements?  Leave a comment and let us know.
