NWA East to be invaded by the Universal Soilder?

Credit: NWAEast.org

The biggest news story out of NWA East right now is the return of NWA National Heavyweight Champion “The Universal Soldier” Phil Shatter! Shatter was last seen in NWA East back in January at Genesis 2, when he defeated then-champion Crusher Hansen for the NWA National Title. On September 26th, 2009, Shatter is coming to the NWA East 15th Anniversary Show, and he’s defending his title that night against one lucky NWA East star! But who will the Championship Committee, or the NWA Board of Directors for that matter, deem worthy enough for a shot at the title? Rumor has it, there’s already several names lined up to take on the champ… but which one will get the chance of a lifetime?

NWA Anarchy at Dragon*Con

In the infamous words of the Ultimate Warrior:

What is, is. And whatever your into, I don’t give a sh***

I’m not entirely sure what the folks are into at the Dragon*Con, but I do know they are in for a lot of action. NWA Anarchy joins Dragon*Con again on this yearly pre-Halloween celebration happening this Labor Day Weekend in Atlanta Georgia. The roughnecks from Anarchy are bringing their A Game. Matches already announced from the Dragon*Con website.

Dragon Con Wrestling, as the joint venture is entitled, will fill a few championship vacancies starting off with the Light Heavyweight division. Azrael, Adrian Hawkins, Drew Pendleton, and JT Talent will battle it out for the new title. Also in action will be Iceberg as he takes on Kimo. Also Todd Sexton will take on Sal Rinuaro. The weekend will also see a re-match from Hostile Environment as Jeremy Vain puts His Anarchy Heavyweight Championship against Shadow Jackson. The DCW Tag Team Cup will be decided when the Hollywood Brunettes defend their honor against Slim J and Murder One. Truitt Fields and Broody Lee will face off for the vacant DCW Singles Cup. Lastly the NWA National Heavyweight Champion, Phil “The Universal Soldier” Shatter takes on not one, not two, but three other men. Shatter puts his prize on the line in a 4 Way Dance that will pit him against Ace Rockwell, Shawn Tembers, and Mikal Judas. Tempers and Shatter were recently teamed in a War Games event against a team that featured Rockwell and Judas.

If you are in the Atlanta area or are already heading to Dragon*Con, make sure you check out the DCW Festivities.

And Still your NWA National Champion…

A lot of rumors and speculations came about at the “NWA Legends Fanfest”. Allegedly the National Championship changed hands when former WWE, WCW, and ECW star 2 Cold Scorpio pinned “The Universal Soldier”, Phillip Shatter during the wrestling side of the Reunion Convention.

However according to the Wrestle Zone and Bill Behrens Shatter was not defeated.

PHIL SHATTER REMAINS NWA NATIONAL CHAMPION

In Show Results from Greg Price’s Legends Weekend in Charlotte on August 8-9 it was incorrectly reported that Too Cold Scorpio defeated Shatter for the NWA National Title. Shatter remains the NWA National Champion and was not pinned by Scorpio on the 1st night’s show, and the announcement to the crowd that Scorpio had won the NWA National Title was false. The NWA regrets the confusion created by Mr. Price.

NWA Australia vs. Explosive Pro Wrestling – Adelaide

It started back at EPW Adelaide’s Revolution. At the start of the event, Mark Aiston announced the company would be expanding nationally with the help of the NWA. Benny English was opposed to this idea as he wants to keep EPW in his grasp and stay in complete control. At the end of the Revolution, Benny English went on to fire Mark Aiston and the majority of the roster stating that it’s EPW who owns the ring and its EPW who has the contracts with the venues, not the National Wrestling Alliance. Mark Aiston responded to English stating that if he wants a war, then he has got one. With Mark Aiston and half the roster apparently fired from EPW, what will happen at the next event?
And at Ground Zero, the NWA Australia & Explosive Pro Wrestling – Adelaide battled for control of the company. The fans seemingly in favor of the NWA Australia and souring on the EPW-A group. The night’s battle culminated when the NWA Australian Heavyweight Champion, Jayson Cooper, defeated EPW Adelaide’s Slex. The fall out of Ground Zero is unsure, however the NWA successfully defeated EPW. And the promotion has been renamed NWA Pro Wrestling (Australia) and a National Tour has been announced.

Explosive Professional Wrestling was founded in Perth, Western Australia in 2001. Since that time, EPW has held some of the finest wrestling shows in Australia while building a reputation as the best produced wrestling product in the country. In 2004, EPW entered the National Wrestling Alliance.

EPW had expanded into South Australia with the spin off promotion EPW-Adelaide. With the recent events in South Australia, it appears that NWA Pro will now be representing the NWA in Southern Australia.
