NWA New Beginnings is set to launch in 17 Days!!!

17 Days and counting until Greg Price’s NWA New Beginnings launches its inaugural event and what a jam packed event it will be.  First and foremost our Worlds Heavyweight Champion is scheduled to defend his title against a yet to be named opponent.  The Worlds Champion has defended the title all over the American Southwest, but this will mark the first time Demon will wrestle a sanctioned NWA World Championship match on the East Coast.  And there will be another first meeting.
The much anticipated match up between “The Universal Solider” Phil Shatter defending his National Heavyweight Championship against former NWA World Champion “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce.  Shatter has met many world class competitor in his year long reign, including Larry Zbyszko, Mikal Judas, Tristan Gallo, Ace Rockwell, Orion Bishop, Caprice Coleman, and Truitt Fields.  Shatter has defended that belt in Hollywood CA, McKeepsport PA, Cornelia GA, and Charlotte NC.
But Shatter has never faced a competitor in the likes of Adam Pearce.  Pearce is a 2 time World Champion. “Scrap Iron” is still collecting championships.  Pearce recently defeated Dru Onyx to win the NWA British Commonwealth Championship.
Both of these men plan on using this National Championship match to springboard them to the next level.  To put them into a World Championship Match, with Blue Demon Jr.  Only one of these men will walk away as the National Heavyweight Champion.  Only one of these men will walk away with the attention of Blue Demon Jr.  February 14th, Shatter vs. Pearce, the entire NWA will be watching this match.  The entire landscape is about to change as we all await to see the New Beginnings of the NWA..

NWA Week in Review for Feb. 14th

Like cupids arrow we are being shot through the heart of this weeks NWA news. This is the week in review for February 14th, 2009.

The Worlds Heavyweight Title is scheduled to be defended at the El Rancho Restaurant in Tepotzotlan, MX. This is the second of many efforts to bring affordable wrestling action to the fans of Mexico. It is well known that Mexico is suffering from the harsh economic conditions and this is NWA Mexico’s effort in trying to make their style of Lucha Libre more accessible to the fine people of Mexico. Blue Demon Jr. will take on rival El Dandy. When asked about the qualifications of El Dandy in receiving a title show, legendary 2nd generation wrestler Bret Hart had this to say, “Who are you, to doubt El Dandy!” Sorry folks, that joke will never get old for me.

Speaking of the champ, Blue Demon Jr.’s appearance on the Showcase 09 took place yesterday on ColoursTV. If you’ve been keeping up with this blog, you’d know that the match was made available earlier this week on NWAWrestling.com. Demon defends against Border Patrol member Derrick Sanders. The card also features the Showcase debut of Cade and Murdock, Joey Ryan, Tristan Gallo, and Adam Pearce bullies poor David Marquez.

Controversy, confusion, and perhaps a little hard feelings were the sentiment in Music City this week. Apparently NWA Main Event and associate NWA Top Rope couldn’t even agree to disagree as Main Event’s promoter, Mike Porter claimed that only his television taping in Nashville was the only sanctioned NWA event last week. However, Top Rope promoter Mike Sircy, who recently created NWA Cyberslam, which is a union of the NWA Top Rope Promotion with Tennessee Indy promotions USWO and ATL begs to differ. “This taping is a NWA Top Rope Production. The internet show will be called NWA Cyberslam. So I would have to say this portion of the night would be a sanctioned NWA Show,” claimed a representative from Top Rope. That night of action did see the crowning of a new Cyberslam Champion in Kliff Hanger who defeated JD Fluffy, Raul Loco, and LT Falk in a tournament to gain the crown. Porter’s group ran a television taping for its Weekly action on Nashville’s ION Network.

Brandon K has to be at least nominated for the Worst Tag Team Partner Award. Brandon K and Sterling James Keenan became the North American Tag Team Champions by defeating the Wrong Crowd last year. Aside from a handful of defenses K and Keenan hadn’t really had that much competition. Brandon K had focused his energies on former National Champion Crusher Hansen. While Champion, Hansen evaded K for months. Finally being pinned in a match against Brandon that featured 4 other competitors. Brandon K thought he won the National Title before an executive decision gave the title back to Hansen. Hansen was later defeated by NWA Anarchy’s Phil Shatter. Ok back to why K is a terrible partner, he puts up his partners half of the tag team title against Hansen’s rematch against Shatter. If Hansen wins, he keeps his shot at the National Title and becomes Brandon K’s new partner. If K wins, SJK keeps his spot in the tag team and K gets a show at Shatter. In the infamous words of some fan at the Championship Wrestling from Hollywood tapings “[Brandon K] you’re a bum!” This all goes down today at the Valentine’s Day Massacre for NWA East.

Earlier in the year we reported that TJ Perkins lost a loser leaves town match in the NWA Pro associate EWF. When it seems that Perkins isn’t just leaving the town, that he’s actually leaving the state. Pro Wrestling Guerrilla broke the news about Perkins last match as a SoCal Resident against long time foil B-Boy at the PWG’s Express Written Consent takes place Saturday, February 21. Perkins has been a foundation of the wrestling scene in So-Cal not only being a start attraction, but also trainer to many of the new talents. Perkins will be missed. There is speculation that TJ Perkins will be moving to Florida. This could be great news for our NWA fans on the East Coast. If you get a chance to catch a Perkins match, do it.

Lastly this week I got some clarification from Mr. Bill Behrens, about the NWA House Shows that were ran at the end of the year. “The three events were to be co-promoted with the [venues],” said NWA Promoter Bill Behrens. To my knowledge these were the first events that were not promoted in conjunction with the NWA Pro Wrestling promotion. The first Ohio show was headlined by Trevor Murdock vs. Pepper Parks. Murdock had already worked some dates with NWA Pro/NWA Southwest as a challenger to Brent Albright’s Worlds Championship. Parks continues to work for the NWA Empire promotion with working some dates with the NWA Showcase television show and is a former National Heavyweight Champion. The second big event in Ohio was headlined by Al Snow vs. Pepper Parks. The third event which was to take place in Michigan was canceled because of low ticket sales. That event was to see Mike Quackenbush defend his Junior Heavyweight title against Shannon Moore and the Skull Krushers were to defend their belts against the Phoenix Twins. Unfortunately these shows were not taped. However Behrens assured me that these won’t be the last efforts of running these house shows in larger venues.

NWA East presents: Valentine’s Day Massacare

With a shot at Philip Shatter National Title, Brandon K takes on former National Champion, Crusher Hansen. Hansen worked a golden parachute into the match stipulation, if he is successful in defeating Brandon K, not only does he keep re-match with Shatter, but he also becomes a 1/2 of the North American Tag Team Champions. Essentially Sterling James Keenan has the most to lose, because he can be forced out of his tag team, without wrestling a match.

K and Hansen were doing battle over the title. Brandon K even won the title in controversy, however was later revoked by the NWA East Championship Committee.

Also schedule for this event will be 2 First Round Matches of the NWA East Tag Team Tournament; Hayes and Amherst battle Burton and Taylor and the Franchise Players take on the L.A. Guns. Also Scottie Gash defends the NWA East Heavyweight Title in a match-up against Ryan Mitchell.

NWA Week In Review Jan. 24th

Here is our first installment of the Week in Review.

2009 started off quickly for the NWA. And not even a month into the new year do we have a new National Champion, Phillip Shatter. Shatter defeated former champion Crusher Hansen and Chris LeRusso in a Triple Threat Match. Shatter was originally scheduled to have a title shot against Hansen in Niles, OH for the Santa Slam. The match was postponed due to traveling issues for the former Anarchy Heavyweight Champion. Shatter after winning the championship has already signed on for a defense for the new NWA Charlotte taking on Mikal Judas.

Speaking of NWA Charlotte Saturday the 24th will be their debut event entitled “Homecoming” The inaugural show will feature talents from NWA Anarchy, NWA Pro, and Mid-Atlantic Legends. This show, described as a throwback to Mid-Atlantic tradition. JD Costello (former manager to NWA tag team MOD, had said “We will begin bi-weekly shows in Charlotte under the NWA Charlotte brand in early 2009.” Costello already has scheduled a Main Event match-up between “Shooter” Brent Albright and “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce in a match to determine a #1 Contender to Blue Demon Jr. In addition to the National Heavyweight Championship bout and Albright-Pearce showdown, a “Legends Championship Match” between Ivan Koloff and The Barbarian has been scheduled. NWA Charlotte plans to broadcasts its bi-weekly shows.

NWA Wrestling Showcase makes it’s return to Colours TV. The shows were recorded in the lush Columbia Square Studios in Hollywood, California. The debut was to be set for Friday the 23rd however due to some technical issues, the broadcast will be pushed back to next Friday, the 30th of January. If you have Dish Network, you can watch the premiere next Friday at 6:00pm EST. on Channel 9407 on Dish or streaming from the Colours TV.org. It is expected that the episodes will air on demand on NWAWrestling.com.

NWA Mexico and their quest to be more accessible to their crowds was recently reported by The Cubsfan. It was also mentioned that Blue Demon Jr. could be appearing for New Japan Pro Wrestling, for an up-coming Lucha Extravaganza in Mexico and El Dandy will be getting a US visa to challenge his nemesis, Demon Jr. on American Soil.

Stretching in far East with WWA Korea, NWA Championship Wrestling from Florida affiliate, has introduced a new website. The website is loaded with content from theme music, pictures, and video. In the video section there are clips shown of the press conference between “Super Dragon” Lee Wang Pyo and MMA Fighter and former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Bob Sapp. In the clip Sapp shoves Super Dragon to the floor. And Dragon retaliates by slapping Sapp in the face. The two agreed to a MMA style fight for the WWA Heavyweight Title. Pyo, student to Legendary Korean Wrestler Kim II defeated Sapp with an armbar submission.

NWA France had a their annual event entitled Revolution 5. The venue was packed with 2,500 fans in attendance. And what they saw was Bulla Punk defend her ICWA Women’s Championship against Ohio Valley Wrestling’s Serena Deeb, Greg Furry became the 1st ever Time Scale Champion, Smoke’N’Roll Express retained tag titles and Joe E. Legend retained his tag title. Also ICWA will be introducing 2 new championships, NWA French National Championship and the NWA European Championship.

Two points of interest from the land down under. Monday Night Wrestling has begun to re-air on LocoTV. Monday Night Wrestling’s 1st Season Originally aired on Perth’s Access 31, a public access. Since Access 31 is out of business and the new home is LocoTV, a broadcasting site based from Australia. Thus far, this showcase of NWA Australian talent has had 4 episodes and are all available on demand. Explosive Pro Wrestling PERTH is also set to show their first big event of ’09. The Great Aussie Bash will feature Shane Haste and Team Blitz, The European Union, Bobby Marshall, Richter, and EPW Heavyweight Champion, Davis Storm. The fate of former EPW Superstar Jamie Jurah will also be decided.

IWA Puerto Rico’s affiliation with the NWA is no longer in existence. IWA PR was home to the crowning of a New NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship after the TNANWA split. This was briefly discussed on the Alliance Message Board with NWA Pro front man, David Marquez. There was a great topic on the current members of the NWA. Wait… you’re not a member yet? What are you waiting for? Sign up here!

Jerry “The King” Lawler will return to the Tennessee to wrestle for NWA Main Event on Saturday, January 24th. The veteran of 35 years in the ring will take on “Crippler” Jeff Daniels. This marks the second time in recent months that Jerry Lawler has worked on his home turf and is an expected sell out event.

Lastly, NWA Southwest has added a new member into its territory. Paradise Pro Wrestling (South Padre Island), joins the NWA Southwest family which is made up of; NWA Oklahoma, PWF (Amarillo, Texas), WOW (Houston, TX), GCWA – (Corpus Christi, TX). The promotion is fronted by Carmine DeSpirito, who has had many experiences in the NWA promoting and booking in Midwest and with NWA Pro. DeSpirito plans to start running shows in conjunction with Spring Break. with initial shows centering around Spring Break and will take place at the South Padre Island Convention Center beginning Sunday, February 15th at 5pm. And will continue with shows scheduled for March 15th, 22nd and 29th.

And that’s your NWA Week In Review for Janurary 24th.

NWA: Wrestling Showcase — Niles OH

The stars, thrills, actions, excitement, and surprises that you’ve come to expect from the National Wrestling Alliance will be coming to the Eastwood Expo in Niles OH on Friday November 28th when the NWA Wrestling Showcase comes to town. Bell Time for this event will be at 7:00 PM. This show will feature stars from territories all over the Alliance and will showcase the best wrestling in the world today.
Former WWE World Tag Team Champion takes on Pepper Parks in the Main Event!
The Main Event of the evening will feature one of the hardest hitting men in the wrestling world today taking on one of the rising stars of the NWA when Trevor Murdoch takes on Pepper Parks. A student of NWA Legend Harley Race, Murdock is best known as a former WWE World Tag Team Champion along side Lance Cade. Together, they were known as The Reckneck Wrecking Crew and more than lived up to the billing. However, Murdoch now has his sights set on the richest prize in all of professional wrestling; The NWA World Heavyweight title.
However, standing in his way is former NWA National Heavyweight Champion and constant presence on the NWA Top 10 challengers list, Pepper Parks. Parks had a successful run with the NWA National Heavyweight title several months ago but now has his sights set on the World Title. Many experts see Parks as a potential world champion as his mix of strength and speed make him a dangerous opponent.
Two world title contenders must go through each other before taking the next step on their journey. Will Trevor Murdoch make an immediate impact in the NWA or will Pepper Parks take the next step toward a potential world title shot.
Prophet gets his second Chance at the NWA National Title
Former NWA National Heavyweight Champion Chance Prophet will get a chance to win back the title he was never defeated for on November 15th when he takes on current NWA National Heavyweight Champion Crusher Hansen. Prophet was in the middle of a long and successful National title run when he suffered a severe leg injury on September 9, 2007. During the course of a match, Prophet’s fibula was snapped like a twig. Unable to defend the title, the NWA Board of Directors has no choice but to strip him of the title. Prophet suffered through painful surgeries and rehab and was told to never step foot in a wrestling ring again. However, like a true champion, Prophet refused to stay down. Despite a surgically repaired leg held together with steel plates and screws, the former champion has climbed the ranks again and now finally has his shot at the NWA National Heavyweight Championship.
Meanwhile, the current National Heavyweight Champion, Crusher Hansen has been crushing everything in his path. With his gender bending manager, B.C. Steele, by his side, the man once known as the “Bonecrusher” has been an imposing force in the NWA East territory for many years and has now put the entire alliance on notice. Crusher has been a fighting champion as well, including victories over one half of the North American Tag Team Champions, Brandon K, former ECW superstar Axl Rotten, and most impressively, the legendary Tracy Smothers. The 12 year veteran plans to hold on to the National Heavyweight title for a long time and few have even posed a challenge to the 280lbs + champion. However, a cloud of controversy has followed the current champion; including an incident at a recent NWA East/ PWX show where he placed his Iron Claw nerve hold on a fan that got in his face following a title defense.
When asked for comment, manager BC Steele said the following. Crusher Hansen realizes and respects everything Chance Prophet has done. He knows that he is the FORMER National Heavyweight Champion. Chance Prophet is a smart wrestler, athletic, powerful, and talented wrestler. He’s even a damn good looking man. He’ll beat most people… but not Crusher Hansen. Crusher Hansen is all that and so much more. And Chance better bring those crutches from his rehab to Niles, OH because he’ll need them! Prophet has all the tools and talent but he’s going against a man known for sending people to the hospital. Also, the wily veteran knows of Prophet’s injury and will be sure to target his surgically repaired leg.
Will Chance Prophet regain the title he never lost or will Crusher Hansen put the former champion back on the shelf on his way to greater glory?
The legendary Jim Cornette will be in attendance!!
One of the greatest managers in wrestling history, Jim Cornette, will be in Niles OH for this great show. Cornette is considered by many to be the greatest manger of all time. He has managed some of the greatest in the sport and is perhaps best know as the manager of the Midnight Express.
However, his impact on the business goes far beyond that as he has been a promoter, teacher, trainer, and mentor of many of the superstars in wrestling today. If you have never seen this legendary man live, this is your opportunity. Don’t miss it!
Two Semi Final Matches in the tournament to crowd new NWA Mid West Tag Team Champions
The former NWA Mid West Tag Champions, The Skull Krushers, recently won the NWA World Tag Team titles. Their new responsibilities forced them to vacate the NWA Mid West Tag Titles so new champions must be crowned. Two matches will be held in Niles OH to move one step closer to new champions.
The first match pits The Phoenix Twins v. The Playas Club. The second features Marvelous Mitch Ryder and Sexy Shawn Cook v. The McCoy Brothers. Both of these contests should be hard fought. The last two men to hold these tag titles went on to become World Champions. You can be all four of these teams realize this and know that it could be the first steps to greatness.

The NWA World Women’s Champion will defend her title.
NWA World Women’s Champion MsChif will defend her title against Ashley Lane. MsChif has been making a name for herself across the wrestling world for years now and is ensuring her place in Women’s wrestling history. She is not only the NWA World Women??s Champion, a title she won from the monstrous Awesome Kong, but also the SHIMMER World Champion which she won from Sara Del Rey, along with being the NWA Midwest Women’s Champion. A “Triple Crown Champion”. Definitely a rarity. MsChif has proven herself to be the absolute best in the world. Challenger Ashley Lane is a formidable wrestler in her own right and a more than worthy challenger but she will need to be at the top of her game if she wants to become World Champion.
NWA Mid West Heavyweight Title on the line!
The NWA Mid West Heavyweight title will be on the line when current champion Silas Young takes on challenger Josh Raymond. Silas is another up and coming superstar in the NWA. He has held titles all over the Mid West and looks to not only retain his title at the NWA Showcase but also put the NWA and the wrestling world on notice. Challenger Josh Raymond is a man who has recently reinvented himself. Boldly casting aside his former name and former life, Raymond is trying to climb the ladder of success in the wrestling business. He has recently taken on the services of one Joey Eastman of Joey Eastman World Wide. J.E.W.W. head Eastman says “this should be a easy victory for Josh. Become an NWA territorial champion, and then set our sites for that goofy Masked Mexican Blue Demon Jr”. Can Raymond & Eastman get it done, or will the current NWA Midwest champion prevail. Either way it goes the fans get to see two phenomenal technical wrestlers will go head to head in this one. This match may steal the show!
ALL THIS AND SO MUCH MORE
The Eastwood Expo is located at 5555 Youngstown Warren Rd Niles, OH 44446. For more information about the venue and the event, check out the website at http://www.eastwoodexpo.com/.

http://flash.revver.com/player/1.0/player.swf

border=Chance Prophet seems to be the next big thing in the NWA. When many are clamoring for the WORLDs title he is trying to bring prestige back to the National Title. He is a traveling Champion. And already is looking to defend his title against Christian York and possibly against Jimmy Rave. Prophet is currently trying to setup a tour so that he can showcase the Championship in all NWA promotions. Check out his shirt too. “This Belt Don’t Spin”
