NWA Fusion Meltdown Episode 19` from Mark Bravura on Vimeo.

And does Sheik Ali Akbar have any other surprises for The American Ranger?
In other action, two of the biggest stars in the Mid-Atlantic go face off. Mr. Mid-Atlantic, Damien Wayne takes on The Platinum Icon, Phil Brown.

NWA New Beginnings announces talent

Credit: NWA New Beginnings

Live Wrestling Action Returns To The Queen City In The Spring,
“New Beginnings!” Series To Showcase Top Young NWA Talent!
Something old, something new, something different. Wrestling simplified. That’s what you’ll experience when the very best young talent the National Wrestling Alliance has to offer converge on the Carolinas for NWA: New Beginnings! — a series of four, monthly Sunday afternoon events that get started on Sunday afternoon, February 14, 2010.
Dedicated to providing a fun, family-friendly atmosphere, and a return to the values that for generations made the Mid-Atlantic area the “hotbed” of pro wrestling, each of the monthly cards — February through May — will take place at the beautiful Hilton University Place hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina, also home to the yearly NWA Wrestling Legends Fanfest Weekends each August!
For too long, area fans have been denied an opportunity to see quality wrestling action, free of the filth and profanity that you see nowadays on television. But that will change — in a BIG WAY — in 2010!
Each month, you’ll see the champions and top young talent of the NWA, the oldest and most respected sanctioning body in wrestling. One of those already signed is the 27-year-old reigning NWA National Champion, Phil Shatter. A former Marine, Shatter grew up in Hickory, NC and is a graduate of Saint Stephens High School there. He’ll be defending his championship belt on Valentine’s Day in Charlotte against a soon-to-be-named opponent.
29-year-old Chase Stevens, one-half of “The Naturals,” is another incredibly talented young wrestler that has also signed on with NWA: New Beginnings! One-half of the NWA World Tag Team champions three times previously, Stevens looks forward to establishing himself as a singles competitor here in Charlotte.
Another of the top young talents headed this way is Caprice Coleman, who is not only an accomplished athlete but also an ordained minister. “I love the Lord and I love people,” said the Southern Pines native. “I know that many people have been turned off by ‘Christian hypocrites.’ I have made a vow to live a life in front of people, that will provoke them to give Him another chance.” Coleman brings a great, positive outlook to NWA: New Beginnings!
Many more gifted young athletes will showcase their skills here. Included are the “Queen City Killer” Zack Salvation, the “Man Scout” Jake Manning, Caleb Konley, Josh Magnum, Damien Wayne, and Brad Attitude. More competitors, and specific matches for the Valentine’s Day event, will be announced here in the coming weeks!
It’s an exciting time. Please help us by telling your friends, telling your neighbors — especially those that have been turned-off by TV wrestling for so many years.
Hope you can be with us each month in Charlotte to share in the fun of being a wrestling fan again!
Should you have any questions or comments to share, please feel free to email us at NWANewBeginnings@aol.com
The Folks of Charlotte just got a teriffic Christmas present.  It looks like Greg Price is serious about bringing in some of the good, young, talent from the Mid-Atlantic.  Former NWA North American Champion Wayne, Konley, Manning, former NWA World Tag Team Champion Stevens and NWA National Champion Phil Shatter is a great core roster to build around.  The decision not to saddle Shatter with a tag team partner or stable is a great move.  Shatter has an awesome ring presence and shouldn’t be wasted sharing the lime light with anyone.  With any luck, Shatter will get the spotlight in New Beginnings.  Who do you think should be the focus of NWA New Beginnings?  Do you like the roster announcements?  Leave a comment and let us know.

New Champions crowned in NWA: Southern Pro Wrestling

NWA East’s The Wrong Crowd finally made good on their promise of bringing home the North American Tag Team Titles. The Titles were previously held by the Old School Empire. The two teams first met last year at a NWA East show. The two teams went to a time limit draw. After much “talk” the two teams agreed to re-match in North Carolina at a NWA: SPW’s event. No sign if there will be a rematch any time soon. Chance Prophet had indicated that he would in deed be looking to battle the Wrong Crowd for those titles when he returns to the ring.

The other title was the creation of the Continental Championship. The title is the merged legacies of the NWA Virgina Heavyweight Championship and the Southern Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Championship. The new champion is “Mr. Mid-Atlantic” Damien Wayne. Wayne defeated Sean Denny who was the last man to old the SPW strap. This goes on the long list of accomplishments of Damien Wayne who recently lost the NWA North American Title to “Iron” Mike DiBiase.
Next week on the NWA Wrestling Showcase, will feature Sean Denny versus the “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson. And the new champion will be facing the winner of “Sterling” James Kennan and Worlds Champion “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce.

Update in the NWA World Title Tournament

On June 30th, 2007 in Chula Vista, California, in front of a crowd of 350 people, The Shooter Brent Albright topped Fred Sampson to secure his way into the Semi-Finals. The match was originally planned to take place in the home state of Oklahoma, but due to excessive rain fall and flooding this qualifying match was moved to San Diego. The changing of the venues worked to the disadvantage of Albright, because the crowd was behind Sampson, which probably would not have been the case in Oklahoma. Many believed that the match would come to an end when Sampson landed his Bonecrushing Powerslam. Albright shocked the crowd with a Half-Nelson suplex for the 3 count.

July 13th 2007, Knights of Columbus Hall, 4315 N. Vincent Ave, Covina CA. Belltime 8:00pm. Obviously this is home field advantage for “Scrap Iron”, however, Adam Pearce has never endured himself to the home crowd. For “Techincal Perfection” Chad Parham may have the edge in this match up. Parham ousted none other that the pride of the Mid-Atlantic, Damien Wayne, to advance in the tournament. “Scrap Iron” may have something to worry about. Pearce beat Aaron Aguilera. The bottom line is that this is yet another styles clash that should lead to an exciting match up. Pearce isn’t new to wrestling high flying smaller wrestlers. Adam Pearce feuding for a stint in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla with TNA’s Frankie Kazarian. And as depicted earlier in the video of Pearce vs. Pelle in ROH, Pearce is used to facing the guys with a lot of quickness. Parahm has proved he can compete with the bigger guys. Both men are champions in the repective territories. Chad is the Anarchy Heavyweight Champion. Adam is the NWA Heritage Champion.

Lighting struck once when “Techincal Perfection” was able to defeat “Mr. Mid-Atlantic” Damien Wayne. However, Lightning won’t be stricking twice. My prediction is that Adam Pearce will be too much for Parham.

“Showdown in CrisisLand!” on Saturday, July 21st, 2007, Live @ Knights of Columbus Hall , 279 Quinnipiac Street in Wallingford, CT! Doors open at 6:30 pm. Bell time is 7:00 pm.
One new matched confirmed this morning will bring CHIKARA into the NWA spotlight. Currently, the NWA is in the process of crowning a new World Heavyweight champion. As luck would have it, two of the quarter-finalists in the NWA title tournament happen to be participating in our July 21 Wallingford card, and thanks to both Director of Fun Leonard F. Chikarason and NWA Executive Director Bob Trobich, we’re proud to announce that for the first time ever, Claudio Castagnoli will face Sicodelico, Jr., and the match has been sanctioned as a quarter-final bout in the ongoing NWA title tourney! Everyone here at CHIKARA is proud to know we’ll be playing a small part in this historic title tournament!”

Sicodelico Jr. and Claudio Castagnoli will be facing off in CHIKARA. I don’t believe this makes CHIKARA anything offical to the NWA, but just friendly. Much like the NECW who hosted 2 qualifying matches early on for the NWA. This would have to be considered home field advantage for Caludio, considering he has competed inside a CHIKARA ring very frequently. However, the pro-lucha enthusiasm from the crowd might put Sicodelico over with the crowd.

The bracketing thus far hasn’t favored either man. This match up should remind many of the match up betweens Dean Malenko and Rey Mysterio Jr. The luchador vs. the mat technician. I am greatly looking forward to this match up. Sicodelico I feel is going to be the under dog in this match up. He has a great opstacle to overcome in Castagnoli. I predict Claudio will put Sicodelico Jr. away and advance to the Semi-Finals.
